What this app does

Contract Recovery is a console for a recovery-audit team. It checks a client's supplier invoices against the commercial terms of their contracts, shows the total worth querying, and helps the team review each flagged line and write to the supplier about the ones they confirm.

The engagement shown is a demonstration: Calderbrook Water plc and all of its suppliers are fictional, as are the two placeholder engagements.

How the audit works

  • Every contract's commercial terms (rates, indexation caps, discounts, expense rules, surcharges, fee caps and exclusions) are extracted and anchored to the exact clause wording they come from.
  • Each invoice line is matched to the term that governs it. Arithmetic and rules are deterministic code: rate differences, uplifts above a cap, missing discounts, duplicates, totals that don't add up.
  • Where a judgement is needed (does this description mean that grade? is this trip to the client's own offices?), the engine asks Jev.
  • Each finding shows the amount at issue, the calculation, the invoice line and the contract text it conflicts with.

Definite, probable and possible

● Definite
An explicit numeric term is breached and the line clearly matches it (an exact item code, or Jev is at least 85% sure). Pure arithmetic.
◐ Probable
A numeric breach where the match or interpretation rests on a Jev judgement between 60% and 85%, or a breach of wording that Jev rates at least 80% likely.
○ Possible
Weaker signals or patterns worth asking about (for example a charge that may duplicate an earlier one).
Under-charges
Lines billed below contract are reported separately and never added to the amount to query.

Jev, the saved run and live runs

Jev is a TypeSafe System One model that turns a plain question about a document into a probability. The app shows each question Jev was asked, its answer and how sure it was.

By default you see the saved run: the engine's results computed once with live Jev and bundled with the app. Re-run live with Jev on the overview audits every contract again (one contract at a time, in the background) so you can compare. You can leave the page while it runs. Live runs are limited to 5 per person per 24 hours.

Human review

Nothing is sent to a supplier until a person has confirmed it. On each finding, choose Confirm, Needs info or Dismiss, with an optional note. Dismissed findings drop out of the amount to query.

Keyboard: j/k next and previous finding, c confirm, n needs info, d dismiss. Your decisions are private to your account.

Query letters

Confirmed over-charges collect under Query letters, grouped by supplier. Generate a letter to write formally, on behalf of Calderbrook Water plc, to the supplier's contact: it lists each queried charge with the contract clause quoted word for word, asks for the specific evidence needed (timesheets, receipts, indexation workings, delivery notes), gives the total and asks for a reply within 21 days, reserving the client's rights.

Edit the draft, print it or save it as PDF, copy it, then mark it as issued once sent. Issued letters can't be edited.

Recovery and fee figures

Expected recovery is illustrative: it assumes 90% of definite, 60% of probable and 25% of possible over-charges are recovered. The indicative fee is a 25% contingency on that figure.

API and export

The findings list exports to CSV for the audit team. Everything in the app is also available over a JSON API; interactive reference docs are at /api/v1/docs and use your signed-in session.
